I had the day off today so I got a few hours of treasure hunting in. I had to drive an hour away from home to a little, nearly abandoned town but I figured that was where I was going to find the old dirt.

I didn't have any permissions today but I had plenty of old street right-of-ways that I could hit.

I ended up getting 2 silvers, the Merc being in horrible condition..... probably spent some time on the gravel street.

I also dug up 5 wheats.....none very old.

The winners of the day were the 2 dandy indianheads I dug up in front of the blue house in the ditch along side the gravel street.

I also dug up only one memorial Lincoln which is the ugly one at the bottom in the main picture.

Congrats looks like a great hunt! What are you using to clean those Indians, they look incredible?

Thanks BT! I keep tubes of Armorall Cleaning wipes in my truck. I use them to clean all my finds. I find that if I scrub them long and hard enough they turn out quite nice. That, and the soil up here is very nice to coins. I've only ever dug one really crusty Indianhead. Almost all the ones I've dug (29 I think now) end up looking like these.

Here is the worst one I've dug.

Nice! Going to be too hot to dig here for the foreseeable future.

Thanks jw! It stays pretty cool up here most of the time but I'm sure it'll hit the 90s and dry everything out in late July.

Congradulations on the hunt Tundra .
The armorall tip sounds great , never thaught if keeping a tube of whiles in my truck. I'll give it a try . Beutiful Indians and sweet sweet silver 👍

Greats finds! Never thought of armor all, that stuff is great for cleaning off old gunk. I used some wd40 on a silver coin to get some dirt off the date, it left the pretty green patina on the coin.

Thanks Dew! I usually use them to keep my truck clean but I've found over the last few years that they work great for cleaning my finds. Sometimes you really have to scrub em though.
