.what the heck are the big differences? Are these actually different machinces?

Same machine. The MXT 300 is an MXT sold with a 12" coil instead of the 950 coil, and I believe the reference to MXT E is just explaining it's the E series.... you know, like Whites has the Prism series and the Matrix series....
Same control box on all of them. Put a 12" coil on your MXT and you have an MXT 300.

If it's in "good shape", I don't think you'd find one much cheaper.
It sounds like a deal on price. Which MXT are you buying? Also if it's less then two years old it's under warranty. Since you are having it shipped you don't know how it works so be sure you trust who you are buying it from. Rob
