Very old farm, c1400, belonged to the local monastery, field close to the old farm house yet very few artefacts other than buttons, how strange?

Silver is hallmarked.

Button old/new?

Doug...It may not have gone according to plan, but most of us in the US would absolutely love to have a hunt like that. Thanks for the story and pictures.

Plenty of signals though Doug, at least you know your machine is working OK.
It's when you get no signals at all that you need to worry

It's got to be more fun than watching Wimbledon

Nice hunt! Doug.. I agree with with the John. Here in Kansas we are REAL lucky to find anything from the mid 1800's and in a lot of places I hunt.. mid 1900's
And ~Alan~ it's definitely better than watchin Wimbledom..or hearing about Michael Jackson's ongoing saga!
