Default Time capsule 1987 Buick Grand National

Cool find

http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2018/05/...d-on-ebay.html

The Buick Grand National was one of the great muscle cars of the 1980s and survivors remain coveted collectables today, but how great would it be if you could buy a brand new one?

Well, you can. Almost.

A black 1987 Grand National that was never registered, and has a blue interior thatís still wrapped in the plastic from the factory, is currently up for auction on Ebay.

Loving all of the comments... I have to agree with the one poster, that there were no muscle cars in the 80s.

That car would walk all over most of the Ďmuscle carsí of the early 70ís, most of which were nose-heavy straight liners.

While I'll agree the 80's were not the best of times for the "Muscle car" there were a few that were respectable for the time. The 87 Grand National was a great example. Like 270 some horse power could do the 1/4 in 12.5 which would have been a match for my 2015 Mustang GT rated at 435 horse power. There was also the 85 5.0 Mustang pumping out 255 horses. Not many, but there were a few.

I love the old Buick GN's. A buddy of mine has one with a few mods that runs low 11s. T-Type Regal, 89 TTA, Cyclone, Typhoon, all pretty dang awesome.

They were pretty bad considering the past, but there's a couple pretty cool vids on the youtube of an '83 Z28 eating a Porsche 928Ss lunch at summit point. Kind of like the vid of the '82 whooping on the Mustang Gt...

Sad times all around then, but the "new" torque arm and panhard rear setup on the 3rd gen F bodies was tearing 'em up on the corners when they came out!

I also remember that back in the 60's Buick had the Gran Sport. It was supposed to compete with the Pontiac GTO and the Oldsmobile 442.

I read some place they auctioned that GN off for $45,000.00 at a car auction house not Flea Bay.

Back in the 80ís a friend had a 1968 GS Convertible, loaded. It burned in a garage fire. He took the insurance money and bought a 1973 Nova SS and added the dual-quad crossram intake.

Ok found where I had read about the car. Boy was I wrong.

Grand National with 49 miles
Still has all the plastic covering on the interior
Looks like it sold for a bit over 75K on E-Bay.

I had a '74 SS, haven't thought about that car in years. Factory 4-speed with optional gauge cluster

It was dark green, like this:

But with the wider stripes.

I liked the 68-72 body style, which for the most part the 74s had, but i hated them big ugly bumpers.

Also had a 62 Deuce, rust bucket looking POS, but was all motor, Muncie 4 speed, and slicks
