First large cent

Found my first large cent tonight, 1837 I think. I washed it off and with light shining on the side detail can be seen in the pics. Looking straight on looks like nothing... 3rd pic.
Do you think it can be cleaned up to see the detail? If so, how? I don't care about value, I just want it to look better.

Congrats!! nice find!! That's an 1827 Matron...sweet coin.

Use a Q-Tip (uI use about 12-15 per coin) slightly moistened and gently rub off the ingrained dirt without removing all/any the patina. You will see the !-tip get dirty...immediately rotate to a clean spot so its not overly abrasive to the coin.

Congrats! It took me a long time to find my first....now its taking me a long time to find my second! I used the q tip method, but used vaseline on the qtip..worked great. Hope you get your next one soon!
