Interesting fid today.. pulled it out of the ground and it was CAKED with Dirt couldn't even really wipe it off in the field.. just saw it had a reeded edge.
honestly I thought I had a half dollar.

got it home and started cleaning it up which was no easy task had to scrape the gunk away the best I could.

Upon my friend Google I determined it is a Lucky piece coin made of Aluminum
by the Union Pacific Railroad

this thing has seen FAR more better day as it looks like a lawn mower or two has had it's way with it.. so not sure how lucky it was beyond me saving it's A$$ from further degradation

anyways thanks for looking !

I’ve seen a few of those tokens found and I’ve found a couple. Those aluminum tokens take a beating in the ground. Congrats on the find.

So sad to see such a good find in such bad shape. The good news is that you've got a unique "dirt clue" find with more than one untold story, and we get to see another example of "the way it was".

I wonder if it’s actually made from the same aluminum? Very interesting for sure
