I stopped by a Bank of America today to drop off some nickels. As I was standing in line one of the employees started making her way through the customers asking what each customer was here for, "Do you need a deposit slip, etc". When she got to me I told her that I just had some nickels I was going to exchange. (I opened my bag and showed her the eight rolls of nickels while I was talking) She asked "Do you have an account with us?" I responded with my usual, "No, but my parents do." She said that i needed to have an account to exchange coins and I replied that i was only 16. She repeated i needed an account to which i told her "I've been doing this for over three years. I've come here countless times, gone to other Banks of America in Tallahassee, and Suntrust and i've never needed an account." She said that she had no idea who it was that was letting me exchange but that they couldnt do it. In the end the jerk would have none of it and I had to leave with my nickels. She was telling me all kinds of BS that they needed to track the coins in case there was, (and i quote) "A discrepancy with the coins." I was just like seriously? 8 rolls of nickels? You won't know who brought them in and when as soon as you put them in drawer. I wanted to say "You wanna count 'em right here?" If it were $25+ worth of coins i could understand needing an account, but $16? Are you kidding me? I was careful to show how ticked off I was by rolling my eyes many times at her and shaking my head at her BS. I wish i'd told her how nice the customer service at Suntrust is, and that she was the worst bank employee i'd ever encountered, but unfortunately i didnt think of that until later. I guess she didn't have much Christmas spirit and had decided to be a grinch.
