I just bought the adaptor from Big Boy Hobbies and a new headphone set. I got the Garrett ClearSound headset and together they work great! The headset has an inline volume control which nicely pumps up the volume. I feel those are much better than the stock headphones! With the adaptor you have the option to use other headsets with the 1/4" jack adaptor if you wish.
