SOLVED: Strange Mid-Conductor Rectangle

I found this interesting chunk of metal, today. Does anyone have any ideas on what it might be?

It has two holes that go through it, the number 17, and a hallmark (for lack of a better term) that looks like GB. This is from a house I've been pulling 40's era stuff.

It weighs 18.2 grams.

I don't know if it could be a window weight or not. Seems awfully light for that.

And just to validate this ID, I looked at the "working end", and sure enough there is a slight curvature. Great ID! :dingding:
