Hey folks, this weekend I hunted three very dry sites. Two old schools and one old park. I started off at the one school, which was built sometime between the 30s and 40s I think. The first thing I dug there was this really cool silver plated Howdy Doody spoon. I thought this was a really neat find, and maybe my best spoon yet. I think it was made sometime in the 1950s. If anyone knows any more info about this spoon please let me know thanks. I picked up I believe three very deep Wheat pennies there, and I wanted to try to pull one more silver from this site before I cross it off the list. I started pounding this one small corner patch of the school, and after pulling out some clad, iron, and pull tabs from this small area, I went over it again and got a nice clean 1929 Mercury dime, that sounded lower than a silver on the E-trac. It was hitting at about 12-42. Then I met up with skeeterbait at a familiar beaten dried up 1920s school that we hunted a bunch of times, and I pulled a few more wheats and a really old skeleton key. Before this school was built here in the 1920s, there was an old house on the site, and where I found the key used to be the walkway to the house. So I thought that was cool to pull something from that time period there . I would also find the pocket knife there also. And lastly the final location I went to was a park established in the 1910s. Again this is another heavily hunted site by the tons of people before me, and also myself and my hunting buddies. So I didn't expect a whole lot here, but I did manage one more IH penny from here, a 1902, which looks toasted, because this soil is really rich and deep. And I hit a 12-45 on the e-trac, and to my surprise out pops a 1940 D Mercury Dime. Cool! :) I would also find a really old looking buckle here, if anyone knows the age of this buckle please let me know, thank you very much! :) Anyway here are the pics of the finds, it was more of a relic weekend for me this time, because like I said these sites are pretty much toast, as far as the good signals go. I need to look to private sites very soon, because all the parks and schools around here are just about done. Thanks for looking, enjoy, and Happy Hunting Everyone! :)
