Confederate coat button?

This button is smooth on the front and has what appears to be a crown on the back?? I'm guessing confederate coat button?

You have what is called a flat button. It is plain on the face. It could have been worn by a Confederate, but it could also have been worn by a civilian. (Most likely). That is still a good find from the era.

Thanks!! Im going with the soldier, it was found with a pistol bullet and a chunk of lead in the same hole on a old battlefield..

Yes, if you found it in a camp site I would definitely call it soldier worn. Hope you wore out that site.
