not a lot of civil war stuff here in my part of sw Arkansas, but I have managed a few.

Look under the trigger guard toward the barrel. There may be a serial number. I found one exactly like that. Even bent at the same place. Turned out to be a 1849 colt pocket pistol actually made in 1864

Yeah the cylinder should have a serial number too, and if they match then you undoubtedly have 2 very cool relics from the same gun.
 
I thought it was a colt but the numbers are to high.It is a colt pattern 36cal. someone suggested a manhatton colt pattern but those numbers don't go high enough.Ive been told the south produced some colt patterns, maybe one of those?
