Went out today with a bud back to a spot where I dug a bunch of bullets and he dug a 12 lb Boreman cannonball a few months ago. I was trying hard to find my first complete artillery shell, but that didn't happen. However he did find one, a complete Shenkel shell. I managed 11 bullets; 3-ringers, Sharps, round balls, a carved Minnie, and a Cleaner Type 1. Also got a few whatsits, a small brass make-up compact with elephants and palm trees on it, a gas lantern part, and a shell frag. Even though I didn't my shell, it was still cool watching him dig it. He was super happy and pretty much sat down the rest of the day. HH!

Heck! I'd be smiling too! Awesome find in that shell.

A complete shell is definitely on my list as well!

Very cool hunt. I have only found a one pounder from the French Indian war & shell fragments from spherical & Reed shells. I never saw a whole one dug. Man I going to move to Richmond.:D
