i've had that happen to me as well. another time i was woods hunting with my Ace 250, caught my foot on a branch and down i went. luckily neither the Ace nor myself got hurt when we connected with the ground. i'm still not sure how i didn't land on top of it, lol.
but intentionally dropping one, or even accidentally dropping one too often isn't very good for the machine. besides the electronics getting shook up, there's 2 really weak areas: the arm cuff and the "ears" that hold the coil. sooner or later something is going to give way and your hunting trip will be over.

dug up 50 clad coins yesterday and only dropped it once or twice not thinkin!
