I've been having a problem with my at pro. I was wading in fresh water and when I tried to ground balance the detector goes crazy, high pitched squealing when pumping coil and can't get rid of it. Also if I lifted the coil at all while swinging I get a high tone. It seems like the tones are not as clear as they used to be even land hunting.
Just looking for advice before I call Garrett, if anyone else has had a similar problem and knows how to solve it. Thanks.

I know when I enter water with mine I need to keep it from moving up and down best I can. Water will cause signals because it's effecting the energy out off by the coil. How mineralized is the ground in your area? That could also play into your balance issues.

Check the coil connections and the coil itself. Had issues with mine a few years back there were actual chunks that were broke out of the bottom of the coil. Garrett replaced the coil at no charge.
