I can not accurately id the front of the button.
It looks like an eagle with its wings open at the bottom left with writing from the right wing tip to the left side of tail feathers.
the button is flat and is 20mm wide
this is from an area that is dated back to the early 1800s if that helps

Thank you for your help

Looks like an early-mid 1800s flat button imported from Britian. They'd wear these on their coats. Pretty neat find eh? Idk if that eagle is just corrosion making it look like an eagle or if it's an actual design.

on the front it looks like a No. 5. i think you're right about the eagle that the image seems to look like that from the corrosion. just trying to get more specific with what it is.

"During the second half of the eighteenth century, British manufacturers of metal buttons began to ‘brand’ their products by marking the backs with their names and often their addresses. These ‘backmarks’ can provide useful information for dating the buttons, as details of the various companies, and when they were operating, can be found in contemporary trade directories and other documentary sources. The marking is invariably produced by die stamping, which is an inherent part of the manufacturing process, and backmarks produced in this way continue to be used to the present day."
