Went on a night hunt last night. A few wheaties and the crustiest silver dime I've ever dug. I didnt even know it was silver when I dug it. When I got home and took a closer look, I could tell it was a Barber dime. I rinsed it, and none of that stuff came off. True to form, I took that old dime and scrubbed it with baking soda paste. Turns out it's a 1893. It's my oldest Barber found and my second oldest silver coin I've ever found. Thanks for looking.

Congrats on the Barber. That baking soda sure does the trick, use it myself.

Wow, that dime is crusty but cleaned up nice. Congrats.

Man you weren't kidding that thing was crusty! Good job on the clean up

Nice dig! She's old! I've never seen a silver come out of the dirt like that. Good job cleaning what you can.

I have no idea why it was so crusted over. I had to rub that coin hard! It was nice to be able to make out such an early date one. Thanks!

Nice, I may try that on some of my really nasty silvers. Congrats on your oldest Barber!

Congrats! I would take it and be very happy regardless of condition. I have yet to find a Barber dime. I found a nice Barber quarter early this year and have found 2 Seated dimes one each year I have been detecting, but no Barber dime yet.
