Check your local paper

My local paper every week posts a page for 100 years ago, 50 years ago, and 25 years ago. Needless to say it is a great tool for research. Now all I have to do is figure out where this field was and hope there is nothing built on it :!:

ya but those pics should be archived at the paper in microfilm. Shouldnt be real hard to dig some up.

I remember ours did that also, five yrs, 10, 25,50, etc, and a paragraph about what was the big news at that time. Its to bad they have opted to exclude it at some point. Nice pict. smg

It would be fun to try and solve a mystery like that every week or so. FYI, I picked up a copy of our township's history at the library. It pointed out lots of potential MDing spots that I'm checking out. It even included hand drawn maps going back to the early 1800s.

The Library is an excellent source, you can find so much more there about your town than on the internet.
