I couldnt see the light on paying almost $200 on a longer aftermarket shaft so I modified the stock s shaft for my excal. I took the dive shaft that was included when I bought the ecal, cut, drilled and butt connected it to the long shaft to make it even longer, gained 10 more inches to the swing. Then used a piece of aluminum from a crutch to make the behind mount on the cuff. The tube fit snug and was the same OD as the s shafts ID. Marked and drilled it and poof, nice beach shaft. I had everything on hand expept for the epoxy, which was only $4.79 + tax. So for less then $5 and a hour of my time I got a decent beach rig.

Way to go! Now either make an arm cuff with a strap or get a whites one. Youll be amazed how much work it is hunting water without a strap in the water compared to a strap. If I didn't have a cuff strap id probably stay home. Also try running your knob guard on top. Ive tried it both ways and less chance of the edge rubbing your arm.

Nice work, but as was already said you will want a cuff strap. With a strap you can let the detector hang on your arm while you are using that hand to go through your scoop looking for the target.
