Pettiebone button.

Found a button today in a historical area of Fernandina Beach Florida today.

The front says S.A.L. The back says Pettiebone Mfr Co Cincinnati. They were in business from 1880-1920. Appears to be brass and there are traces of gilding remaining.

Anybody have any information about the initials and use of the button?

Most likely this is a Seaboard Air Line railroad uniform button.

Thanks, we think so too. After posting this, my wife kept digging and eventually learned about Seaboard Air Line. If so this would probably date this at 1880-1900.
