Gold or just junk?

Found this while hunting near a garden tonight. It appears to be a part from a piece of jewelry to me, and thinking it might be gold.
It has no corrosion and came out of the ground pretty clean. Reads a 23 on my F75. Weight 2.7 g. length approx. 3/4 inch.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm no expert on jewelry or metals for that matter, but it appears to me that some sort of base metal (non shiny) has been revealed from where a chunk broke off, unless I'm seeing it wrong? It does look gold plated to me though.

I agree. Take a small file or penknife and scratch the gold colored part and see what's underneath.

To me it looks like costume jewelry that has lost it's rhinestones.
