No seriously, it probably has something to due with the 17-millisecond lag time being much faster than bluetooth or previous wireless options and a built in 30-hour rechargeable battery.
Compared to what you are talking about (receiver and transmitter only, no headphones) they are comparatively priced. Remember a headset isn't included in the Z-Lynk, you can use any headset with a 1/4 inch plug.
