Default Not bad for a couple of hours! ...Silver and gold!!

I've recently moved to a different part of Utah, and up to this point I have had a real hard time trying to find good new places to hunt in this area. A friend of mine told me of a park that he's hunted a few times but hasn't really done all that well, but he said that it's old, so that caught my attention. Here are my finds from my first 2 hours at the park. Every one of the old coins I dug up were around 8 to 8 1/2 inches, The sounded loud and clear but they all sounded like trash on my DFX. I'm wondering if it could be the mineralization in the ground or something, from being only 2 miles or so from the Great Salt Lake.
The count is:
5 wheat pennies
1 Silver War Nickel
1 Mercury dime
1 10K Gold Ring (which I'm wondering if it was part of a pocket spill with the Merc being only 4 inches to the west of it at the same depth...)

I've had similar experiences here on the coast of Maine with deep coins. I've dug indian head pennies at 7-9 inches with my Ace 350 that bounced between iron and foil. My Vaquero seems to do a better job but I dig everything foil and above with it. Maybe we need Minelab tech for the salt conditions? Nevertheless nice hunt, gold is always good.

Nice hunt and only 2 miles outside of the city -- I would make a point to go back and hit it hard

It's actually about 30 miles away from Salt Lake City itsself. I was refering to the Huge salty lake that Salt Lake city was named after that takes up probably about an 8th of the state of Utah. But yes I'm actually going back Sunday to hopefully find some more goodies!

I find it totally amazing that almost every woman's ring I manage to find seems to fit my wife's fingers......perfectly. Oh well, they might as well wear them 'cus they don't fit our fingers. Nice find and congrats. Gold Nuggets
