Possibly a steel penny?

I found would I think once was a 1943 steel penny. It came out of the same hole as a 1940 & 1944 wheat.
Just about sandwiched between them.
Probably no way to be certain but wanted some opions.

I was thinking that was the case. Never would have dug that if it didn't have a friend or two in the hole with it.

Have you put a magnet to it? If it’s magnetic, that’s pretty good supporting evidence along with being sandwiched in the spill that it’s a steel cent...cool find!

It is magnetic.
It's unfortunate that there aren't any recognizable features left on it.
