Nice road trip Roberto! Polish all those rings up and load your fingers with them every time your around Kevin...and say "My machine is better then yours!" :p

Thanks all for the comments.

Finding gold is possible everywhere. You just have to be different than others searching for it. I guarantee if I would have waded this trip, I would have had zero gold. Every ring was over 6' deep. The chain was right at the end of a dock and found while I was fanning a coin. About 8' of water.

I can just imagine all the gold that could be found in Florida just over the heads of the waders during low tide. Probably an unsearched area.

One of the lakes I hit, I know divers have hit with detectors. The water was crystal clear and hardly a beep even out to 10' deep. However I did find a silver ring and rosey in it and so their should be more. There is absolutely no way I can get it all and other divers with detectors probably do just as well or even better than I do. You waders can have the shallow water and the fresh drops.

For those getting into diving. Know your surroundings, know your limits and don't push either. I was in 4 - 6 foot tall weeds in one lake pushing them over and detecting. NOT for everyone. One lake went to zero visibility fast when you stirred the bottom. Another bottom mostly muck. Know how to handle everything and never panic. As long as you have air, you can get out of any situation.

Where I found the 7 gold and Kevin got 3, there is a huge drop off. My rope to my dive flag was only 12' long. I am going to tie a longer one on and go down further and see what I missed. I think the sand is too thick and the finds will be deep but I need to try. Also we only hit one beach on that lake and another one and I am positive there will be others to raid.

In Michigan there is NO such thing as a private beach on a public lake. If a lake has any kind of public access, like a boat ramp or a beach, the homeowners own to the high water mark period. Anybody can put up buoy's for swim areas BUT anybody with access to the lake can swim or dive within the buoys and no laws are broken.

What I do, holding my breath, going slow, not caring about visibility, digging every signal, works for me. What ever you decide to do, have fun and enjoy and find what works for you.

Congrats SD, You are an inspiration for sure! As I am gearing up I am already thinking of areas that I am interested in trying both fresh and salt water. Just one question if you don't mind. I assume that you wear a hood since the water is probably cold. Do you have holes in it so that you can better hear the targets or does the sound pass through the walls of the hood? Thank you and HH!

Water is tolerable now without a hood. Holes are completely unnecessary. I put them in my first hood and found out I can hear without them just fine. I have a 5mil hood and a 3 mil hood. I used the three until it flew out of the boat last week!! LOL another hazard of boating!

Heck of a week of hunting Bob congrats... Don't worry about those FL hunters... the best hunters hunt using snorkels and fan like you... I can't remember when but a year ago a member of another forum the Bulgarian and his hunting bud Rudy each pulled over a 115 gold each inside of a month using Rudy's Orca Detectors... :) I believe they are TR machines.

Scuba, I was just your way yesterday in Sarnia and we drove along the river in port Huron and was wondering how your road trip went. Looks like it went pretty dang well! Congrats buddy. GL HH

If I could just get over claustrophobia and the fear of equipment failure, I can only imagine what is off the beaches here. Admire your tenacity!

If the Superman ring was still silver plated it would be worth some bucks!!

Not bad for junker brass rings.

Awesome trip, I had a lot of fun, but only got a fraction of what you found. Three gold's in one day still is not bad, plus all of the silver coins. Will post my pics when I have time.

That's ok my day will eventually happen. I had a few better days then Bob in the past, but he usually has more.

Shoot, I found plenty of gold rings worth less than those!
