my friend gene dug this button and asked me for help IDing it any help would be appreciated is it rev war/ british maybe?thanks its pewter too

I found this page. A little more than half way down there's a button that looks like yours (I think), but not in as good condition. Looks like they don't know much about it, but say theirs was found at a revolutionary war camp. Sound like a great find, if their information is accurate!

its a rev war button but not much else is know about it thanks for the input
