Hi everyone. I am still hunting on the 1834 property.
I had a good signal in the low 89s today with my Garrett AT
I dug just a little and this is what is in the dirt....what do you think? Could it be a dump site? A brick lined privy...a well? Or plain Ole not in? I have only dug down about ten inches the whole is just about the size of a brick, so far getting out coal and melted glass. This was a Dr's. Home back in the day, I would LOVE to find some of his bottles, his office was in the house.
Would you dig deeper or just cover it up? I spoke to the owner and she said I could dig more and deeper if I want, but wanted to hear y'alls advise first.

I think it is a cistern that was filled in with rubble and forgotten about, you will probably find 1940s stuff in there. If it is a cistern then somewhere on that property there is a privy. That would be your best chance of finding a bottle. If you really want to dig a privy you should make a probe out of some steel rod and probe around before you put forth the effort. Itā€™s a lot of work.

Emu, I didn't want to dig any more until I spoke with the owner, they are really weary about the yard getting messed up, so I've been extra careful with my plugs.
I have a ground probe, it's just really heavy and about 6 ft long, I'm only 5'3
But I've checked a few spots, I'll go over it more the next time I go.

Found more photos

Digging online I found some more information on the house and land, the right side facing in the back you can see a small structure, this is where I found the bricks in the ground.

Wow !
That place has some history.
There IS a privy there.
Your probe is your friend.
Check along fence lines out the back.
Not to far from the house. You wouldn't want to go far in the rain.
For some reason I found most of mine on the left side as you exit the house??

I wound probe the brick hole and see if it goes anywhere.
It might have been just a burn pit. Or where that building burned down.
Good luck...
