I was cleaning my finds from a hunt at an old house a few days ago. I had found a button and didn't pay it much attention as the house was probably built in the 1930s or 40s. I had found 1 mercury dime, 1 wheat, and a bunch of clad. After cleaning the button, I was able to make out the image on the button and I recoginized it as a Virginia State button. I had found 1 other one before.
The button and Merc were both about 6" down under a big tree below the roots.

Old button

Seems like something else was there, before the house that's there now. Or someone in that house may have collected older buttons. Either way, it's yours now and a great unexpected find. Congrats!

Super finds! I found my first VA this last weekend! I wanted one more than just about anything. My house was built 1929 and ive found civil war bullets in the front yard. You just never know what might turn up!
