I measured
it last night its .52" I put it up to a .54" three ringer yesterday that I thought was a .58" my bad lol.

Beautiful finds! I cant help but get a shudder through my body when I look at that old high caliber lead...I just cant imagine a Human getting hit by one of those...I used to shoot Black powder, .54 cal...and Lord Have Mercy to anything downrange in the way of one of those...It really puts things in perspective about what awesome finds those are!

Thanks mud. Yes every time I dig one it just amazes me how big they are. There tactics were so antiquated for the weapons they used. They really started figuring it out later in the war. No more frontal attacks. Like at Petersburg they dug in & siege warfare began. A precursor to WW1.

Great finds. The bullet you were questioning appears to be a Smith Carbine.

Thanks. I measured it the other night with dial calipers. It's @ .52". So yes a Smith carbine bullet it is. HH
