Really, I think this is it! Showmesilver!

Ours does kind of have uneven surface. Maybe it was in the water so long it was smoothed, just like the edges of US.

My first lapel pin on my dress uniform was a one piece thing like MrSirReal found. After I got out of basic training I bought some two piece pins, (the US was one piece and the disk was one piece) with push caps on the back, only for inspections. Didn't need them overseas, the people shootin at you didn't care how pretty you were.
