I purchased an F4 11" DD coil from one of the members here, and realized that it has the screw-on type connector, but my F2 has the push-on type connection. I tried eBay, but didn't find an adapter. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Hello Diggum,

A good friend of mine makes Fisher adaptors.
He is a tech, a former Navy communications guy.
PM me and I'll give you his contact information.

Good to know. Better to know how.

I'm not finding anything on sources for the plugs. :(

One way is to get a $5 screw on coil extension and cut the end off a push on coil then splice.
dbax did that here...

Not sure where aftermarket push in connectors would be sold if you don't want to cut up good coils, but they are probably out there somewhere.

Thanks for the link, DIGGER27!

Thought I'd dredge this up in case someone wants to make their own adapter. Too late for me, but worth linking: http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?p=1936866#post1936866

Problem solved. Turns out that the person who made the original adapter had the wires mirrored (as you look at each end of the adapter), but they should be one for one. Hard to explain...

The guy who sold it sent me a temporary one that was wired correctly, and my detector sounded and acted normal, again. Quite a bit more sensitive to RFI, but it works! I ended up just taking the original adapter and re-soldering it, as the temporary he sent me did not have plug housings (I suppose that he did that so that I didn't do a 2 for 1 theft). I tried the coil today, and all seems well. Found some a quarter & two dimes, brass eyelet, and strange, broken, cheap jewelry piece. Good enough for me!

TorqueMaster, check your PMs!
