I got back to a cavalry camp I've been hunting & had a good day of it. The temp was around 50 & it was beautiful weather to dig some relics. I'm going tomorrow for some more That's my digging buddy Beastdigs in the first picture. Any one have any ideas of what the brass thing I'm holding is? HH & thanks for looking

What are those 3 bullets to the left on the bottom row. I dug one of those and haven't ID'd it yet.

They are Burnside carbine bullets buddy. I know they must have been made of bad lead. I know in the one spot it was polluted with them. I had to take a break I'm getting older & can't dig but 60/70 holes before I'm done. We were in a great area today. We're going back in the morning buddy.

Good luck! Hey, I hear ya, I try to keep quiet about the locations of my best finds!yeah, I'd love to get over your way sometime, it's not all that far from me. I'm in the process of lining up a few spots so I'll possibly have a few spots over here to hunt too! I wonder if the burnsides have trace amounts of a different metal in them? That's really odd. Haven't you found any of the casings yet? Hope you guys pull a plate!

Some of them have the top of the casing left on them when I dug them. As soon as their exposed it crumbles away. In the pictures you can see the bases of them are green. That's all that is left of the casings. The quality of lead is terable in these Burnside's.
