Decided to stay out of the woods today and instead hunted a field near a 1960's school. Never found any coins before 1932 at this spot, but that all changed today. Got an 88 signal and pulled out an 1843 large cent! Had to be a good 8 inches down. Pretty toasted, but still a great find.

My other good find was an old watch FOB. It has "Republique Francaise" on the front, as well as a bust of some unknown person. No idea how old, so any help would be appreciated.

Here's some pics:

Congrats on your finds! Not a watch fob. That is the French Legion of Merit, was create by Napolean Bonaparte in 1802 and would have had a red ribbon attached. I believe there were several different levels too. These would have been different types of bars attached to the ribbon It was awarded to Military and Civilian for good conduct. It was not uncommon for American soldiers to be awarded by France.

Thanks for the information! Probably a WWI or WWII relic.
