Found this piece of metal today. It is not steel. It is 3 1/8" wide by 2 5/8" high by 1/16" thick. I noticed after taking the picture, that it had Patented April 5, 1910 marked on it. It looks like steel, but it is non magnetic.:?: It has a hinge at the top.

It's part of a lid to a glass creamer or syrup pitcher. You have half the lid, the back part would be half-moon shaped and also attached to the lid and would have a "lip" on it that would go down over the outside of the creamer or pitcher with a friction fit to keep it from falling off. Attached to this piece would also be a lever you would press with your thumb to open the spout to pour. My grandma's was crystal. A company called Hersey or Hesey or something like that.
