Rust blooms in soil

Been checking out quite a few low conductor tones especially at the freshwater beaches nearby. Get some good, solid sounding hits, dig them up and then nothing.

I scan the tailings and I scan the hole and there is nothing there other than what looks like a lot of rust stained dirt.

Just wondering if this is common. Anyone else get these? Anything you've been able to do to help better ID them before digging?

Yep, I have had this happen along a creek in the gravel.
Good strong signal that either disappears and/or moves when digging and seeing Rust stains.

I run a PI detector so can not discriminate out iron.

Don't use Nox (or VLF) but seems it should ID it as iron.

I see a lot of those rust blooms around up here where it's wet most times. There's usually some small enough particles of iron left to bounce a signal and for me anyway, it's usually a bouncing number which means one of our Canadian coins hiding signature... Because of the nature of our coins, I have to dig up a lot of bouncing numbers to find coins.. and the occasional rust bloom ;)

Cheers
