This was found by a buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas on the value? I know as a coin it won't be much at all, but as a button we are wondering what the value might be.

Are you sure it is a dime and not a half-dime. It looks like a half-dime large 8 variety. The shank may be removable by an expert. I'd take it by a reputable coin shop and get their opinion. Maybe worthy of repair/conservation.

I can just imagine the guy who made that thinking, "In 200 years, this is going to confuse the heck out of some metal detectorist! Is it a coin? Is it a button? Button? Coin? Button?"
