Went out to my favorite spot by 6am to beat the heat. I have hunted this place a couple dozen times and keep finding goodies. This trip I managed two Mercs 1920 and 1940. Buffalo nickel 1923, several wheaties and two tokens. There is a thin one to two inch layer of burnt debris anywhere from 1" to 4" down that makes it tough to get solid signals. I have realized that many of those iffy signals I passed up last year are actually hiding some good coins. Yes I dig a fair amount of nails but it is worth it when rewarded by the shine of a coin dropped many years before I was born.
