Default shovel recommendation

Looking for a shovel recommendation for hunting old fields. What works for you? Pics would be great. Thanks.

Predator for sure. More specifically, the barracuda for me. I've used just about all of them. Predator seems to be built the best IMO.

The Barracuda is my favorite as well. Little bigger blade than the Sampson, but not gigantic like the Ranger. Perfect size for me.

Another vote here for Barracuda from Predator. I used mine last night for the first time and it does a beautiful job.

Another vote for Predator, however I own the Piranha. And yes, get the foot peg additions.

Check these out. The only shovels I've ever used. A buddy of mind hand crafts each one. Lots of different options.

I purchased an Anaconda NX6. Expensive, but it's a good tool. However, if I had read this thread 1st I might have gone in a different direction. At least a less expensive direction. LOL!

So far loving my Grave Digger 36" Nemesis and matching side kick. They are seriously well build and slide into the dirt like a hot knife through butter....another reason I like them is that they are made in the US and it's just a guy in his garage welding these things up in his spare time...sometimes with some help from friends. Feels good to support another hobbyist rather than a large company.

Those shovels look cool. I'm no mechanical engineer but wouldn't square tube in that orientation offer a strength to weight advantage for prying over typical round?

I think that's the idea. Mine feels extremely sturdy and it's light. I was actually surprised how light it was. Makes toting it around the field or woods a non-issue.

Matches my Jeep too...lol

Thanks for all the comments folks. I narrowed it down the Barracuda, Nemesis, and Tombstone. I went with the Nemesis as I could not find the Tombstone in black. Its in the mail.

They all seem like fine shovels, certainly better than my hand digger, which I love, but the fields are laughing at me when I whip it out (despite the fact that it has dug a bust half dollar, countless coppers, and a handful of seateds and reales in those fields). Now those old coins have even one more thing to worry about.

As for the diamond shaft, I am not an engineer either, but I read somewhere online that it has a structural advantage over the round shaft. If there is an engineer on board, maybe they could explain the mechanics better, but I'm sure the circular shaft would do just fine.

The colors look awesome. I almost went with the green but wanted something not so flashy and attention getting from outsiders. If I change my mind down the road there's always spray paint .
