Hello everyone, this seems to be a plug or cover. It has glass about 3/16 inch think with a brass back with loop used for lifting it. It also has a decorative metal shape between the glass and the brass. It looks as if it was meant to look nice when viewed from the glass side. No writing or numbers on it.

Any guesses on what its part of ?
Home site dates back to 1800.

Hey ded, I think I figured out what this is. You know the old saying when they say "put a plug in it" - well this is the plug that they are talking about . I couldn't resist, a cool find never the less. Steve.

Looks like a bridle to a saddle..My buddie found one and it had the same loop on the back for mounting.

i'd say a late 1800's horse rossette , i have found a couple but yours is in better shape . nice find ded .

Thanks guys, I will have to do a little more looking, may be I can find a picture.

I found some pictures and although this is just a plain brass one I am pretty sure it is a bridle rosette, other pictures were very small.
