Those guys won't be allowed to keep it. Somebody the state, federal government, or a foreign nation will lay claim to it. If you ever find coins like that You never tell a soul and quietly sell them.

Insurance companies will be the first in line to claim the treasure if the ship and or cargo was insured.

Unless there was a single cannon on it, then it's a warship. The nation who owns it gets it all. Again never tell anybody just collect it and sell.

Ya, these guys should have learned this lesson from Odyssey Marine when they found the Black Swan code name for the Spanish ship Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes . $500 million dollars worth of gold and silver back to Spain!

Ive always wanted to explore a wreck for coins. Seems like a lot of work and I’m definitely not equipped for that kind of adventure.

I've dug in shipwrecks for years, best I ever got was a gold tooth. And no nobody went down with the ship on that wreck.
