my Whites BeachHunter came with hard wired, nonadjustable head phones ... they are clear and comfortable but I have a question as to setting the volume ... based on recommendations of a friend, I set the volume to where I can first hear a solid tone, but when the detectors picks up on an object the tone it sounds (regardless of what it has detected) is way too loud .... would it be OK to set the volume at a point below where a solid tone can be heard?

I believe the BeachHunter has an adjustable threshold. In that case,
set the volume to where it is comfortable when sweeping a target,
then adjust the threshold volume until you just hear the threshold hum.

thanks for the reply ... I'm so new at this that I didn't realize the machine has more than one volume control :?: ... I'll most certainly take a look
