Found these two 1869 Indian head pennies a month or so back and was just taking a look at them, wanted to know if there was any way to clean them up a little better without harming the details or patina.

petroleum jelly + que tips + tooth picks = good stuff

Salem scott has a thread on it, not sure where but its here somewhere. look for it.
 
Before going at it with a toothpick, soak/brush a few times over first.
An alternative to olive oil is distilled water.
 
1869 is a heck of a date....they are worth $70 in G condition...I'd be careful with experimenting on these...use pure acetone for an overnight soak...then possibly try verdicare after that....followed by another soak in acetone!
