So over the weekend I found an FA 6 09 casing that had some markings on the casing that I couldn't ID right off. There are 5 evenly spaced lines around the central portion of the case. The cartridge had not been fired so it's not a chamber marking. Any idea of what would have made that kind of marks on the case?

could be so called 'trench art'. Soldiers making art in their spare time from things they had on their disposal. Could be markings to special 'recipe' withing the cartrige or the bullet itself...
