So I checked out a new spot yesterday and found these two items and a 1902 Indian head cent in a yard full of trash. It’s been known to yield civil war items in the past. I’m curious if anyone can help identify the buckle/clip. Unfortunately the bar crumbled when I picked it up. It has pioneer as the brand and says June 11 - 1907 and above that there is some more writing and numbers I can’t quite make out. I also found this pin/button (pictuted by the crusty Indian head) of some sort with a weird symbol in the middle of it. The back is very crusty so not sure if there are any marks or writing. I’ve tried searching for both with no results but I know you guys can work some magic.

Can’t find out a whole lot of information about The Pioneer Suspender company, other than that it was headquartered in Philadelphia in the early part of the 20th century.

Established in 1877.

Still around in the early 1950’s , I see them listed in 1916 directory and 1920 and 1945 this same address. The building was built in 1911 ..Not sure where they were before that.

I was actually wondering if you would come up with it. Good job

The numbers you can't make out are for a Patent number. I can see the words PAT N... and parts of a number. If you take an SOS or Brillo scouring pad or steel wool and lightly take away some of the encrustation on it, the stamped-in lettering and numbers will likely retain some of their darker coloring, enabling you to read the whole number. If you can make it out after trying this, post it here and I'll look up the patent for you, or you can Google the following:

"Patent" + "######", where the #'s are the actual number and you include the quotes and the + sign just as I've entered them, substituting the numbers for the #'s.

Let us know what you find.

I’ll definitely give that a try! Thanks! Will post update hopefully tomorrow.

The decorative piece falls under the general category of round filigree jewelry. Filigree just means "intricate metalwork with floral patterns". It's still popular in jewelry.

Could be a pin, brooch, earrings, etc... Do a google search for "filigree round pendant". Yours looks like it had something applied to the center. I would guess it dates turn of the century....similar to the suspenders.
