Should have just straight out fired him. Journalism is suppose to be about accuracy, facts, the truth, integrity. Those top paying jobs should be only held by the best in their field. Firing him would have set a proper example. Six month suspension... Wonder if its like a 1 year NFL suspension, that last only a month...

He'd probably be more appropriately employed as a reporter for National Inquirer, or some other tabloid trash...

Absolutely, and not with any kind of ritual professional courtesy. Security supervises him while he packs up his stuff and walks him out the front door. Straight up fired.
In the eyes of the people who look to the free world for hope, this is a bad. Integrity, morals, ethics, fairness, justice, the facts. Not unless we're getting paid, just like everywhere else. That's the message they're getting. It matters more than any of us care to admit.
 
"Rather" telling isn't it. (pun intended)
Management has known about the lies all along, so who's going to hold their feet to the fire?
