I believe that the Beetle was last sold in the US in 1977. That would make this 2000 a Mexican built Beetle not intended for the US market. A great find.

yes, you're correct, in the US it would be pretty rare, but i live in mexico so they are fairly common... I thought of sending one north, but they have to be 25 years old to get in to the US without modifying to meet the regs, but canada allows them after 15 years.
