Hunting along an old farm road in the woods I found my smallest Oxen shoe(3.5") I have ever found and the largest square Nail? (6") I have ever found, all in the same hunt! strange! Size comparison is another 6 inch ox shoe and a quarter. What would a nail that size be used for? I thought maybe a lynch pin but that would not be squared.

Those old drags the farmers used in the fields had big square nails in them. Granddad used to drive them down through timber and drag behind horses to break up sod.Might have been something like that.
