Unbelievable Finds at Old Fairgrounds

Since its SO HOT out and haven't been able to hunt much thought I would check out some of my past hunts. I will never forgot this hunt. You killed it that day. I laugh everytime I remember you falling flat on your back after you dug the Morgan, then 5 minutes later dug the seated. AWESOME DAY and Great Hunt.

HAHAH Yeah this was a hunt to remember, I mean, not very many folks in 2016 get to get on a site like that! Hopefully this fall we can give er another try!

I was lucky enough to acquire permission last month for a place with similar history. Since the ground currently resembles rock, cutting plugs is futile.
The outside edges of the fairgrounds are producing some old stuff though.

Oh wow, can't wait to see what you get this fall!

Wow! What a site! An old fairgrounds that is now a forest. Sounds kinda mystical and spooky. I love it!
Congratulations on getting some firsts!

Finally got on a good spot, this was a late 1800s fairgrounds that is just woods now. I had high hopes for this property, and it did not disappoint.

If I hadn't dug this stuff myself, I might not believe it! Luckily I had a friend with me and he got to see the stuff come out of the ground too... to say this was a hunt of a lifetime is an understatement if you ask me...lol

1881 Morgan - She was down about 7 inches and I can't post here what I said to Jerr-Man when I found it because of a certain 4 letter word. Suffice it to say I said "You're not gonna ... believe this!" I still can't believe it, would have never guessed in a million years I'd pull a Morgan Dollar out of the ground!

Of course I dug some junk-- this is only half the junk I dug.

As you can see this one one of my best hunts, it was a beautiful day for diggin and after 9 hours of hitting it hard, this is what I came up with.

My buddy also pulled an 1890s wedding ring, merc dime, 1883 Indian Penny, 1904 Barber Quarter and a few other odds and ends.

It was an epic day, thanks for checking out my finds!

Just wondering......was this the old amusement park in lawrence ks which is now woods?
