Found this object at an old church. It is very heavy and the spikes are metal and it is very heavy. Lucky I was wearing my gloves, it would have punched holes all in me

Yep, a flower frog. We had one in a jar of junk when I was a kid that I managed to stab my fingers pretty good on.
 
My wife's grandmother had several of these, she used them to to scrap corn off the cob into a sort of mash. She froze it and made delicious stuff with it in the dead of the winter.
