Sand scoop problems

Bought my first sand scoop a few months ago, and have used it no more than 6 times, and it's already starting to collapse. I doubt it will last more than a few more hunts. I bought it on ebay from a seller named borderlineengineering, a top-rated seller. This was not a high-dollar scoop, but I'm disappointed that it won't hold up to sandy playgrounds and the dry beach.

My questions are:
  1. Does anyone know if borderlineengineering stands behind their products? Are they on this forum? Will they refund or replace with something that will last?
  2. What LONG-handled scoops are people using for playgrounds?
  3. I'm going nuts trying to find something durable to replace this with, that won't break the bank, and could be used on a playground or beach. I appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks and happy holidays.

Never heard of them but borderline looks to be a little short of the border on quality! I built my own and its a tough scoop. I am lucky enough to be able to do my own fabricating and metal work. Scoops are expensive if you want a good one. Good luck and HH.

That scoop is made for loose sand like at the beach, The playground sand is usually packed from kids running over it, with that said there are better hand scoops out there, that one looks like it would be a pain in the wrist to use.
Never heard of the merchant but I doubt they would take returns.
If you can post a picture or link of a scoop your looking to buy ,do so and our crack team of specialists here will evaluate it.
Here`s a design I have used in the hard and wet sand and it holds up, Trouble is I forgot where I bought it.

I see a hand scoop and dry sand
it probably pressed his foot...
Why do you think it is bent?

That is a typical dry sand hand scoop. It is made for dry sand only, not tot lots or wet sand. If you must use a hand scoop then some plastic ones are better. With plastic you can wave the scoop load over your coil. The one you have is not meant for you to put your weight on it to get up or dig hard ground. I would not blame the maker for use other than it was intended. Just straighten it out and get on with it. It will still dig dry sand as intended.

Stand behind there product

The only high end scoop maker that stand's behind there product that i know of for a full 3 YEARS,is SunSpot, after the 3 YEAR warrenty run's out,Chuck repair's your out of warrenty scoop at low cost,High end built to last,oh and please other scoop owner's chime in on this one, please let us know about your scoop manufacturer's WARRENTY :shock::shock::shock:::roll::roll::roll::roll:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::tissue::tissue::tissue::tissue::tissue::sadbye::sadbye::sadbye::sadbye::sadbye::twister::stormy::popcorn2::popcorn2

It looks like borderlineengineering makes border line products. I would get one the the scoops recommend here for the type of hunting you will be doing and buy the best. It will be the last time you will need to buy a scoop.

My first scoop was the best there was 20 years ago and I still use it today.

So what scoop would you use for tot lots or wet sand? I don't have a beach machine and won't be doing any hunting in the water, so I don't think I need something super heavy duty. But I would like to be able to move wet sand in a tot lot!

Thanks for everyone's thoughts.

What you need is a scoop where the handle is close to the bucket. Take a look at the scoop I pictured and find a similar style, You will want to stay away from handles that are long.
A scoop that I know is pretty durable is the one I showed you and this yellow one, It is a thick steel and there are similar unpainted ones but the ones with the square holes are a thinner galvanized steel that wont cut the playground sand.

Pi Joe/ agree

Rtg scoops are a nice light duty scoop, and some use them in the water,i had the 6x11s aluminum with sstip & grab handle,i mostly wet ,and water hunt during the season so i needed a more durable larger scoop- 8 wide 12 long, went with Stealths, very happy,no problems, just make sure you get the grab handle and ss tip,the aluminum makes it lighter,if i was to get another one ,i would go with 1/2 inch holes, instead of the 5/8 for 20 bucks more, they will customize the way you want it ,happy hunting Earl

let me say this: i now own 3 stavrscoops - 2.22 - V.5 & M-10 - i would like to think i am done buying any other scoops forever, but

i really do like the looks of the 720 and i may just have to try one for the deep water this summer. i am not crazy about the weight of it, but i do really like everything else alot. i think chuck has a fine ticket once again.............now the weight will not matter much and should acutally help in the deep...........my opinion only.

merry christmas to you and good luck.

quit stirring the pots....:)..... :)
